Privacy Policy

Effective date:

CutSeen, Inc., based in California, USA, operates the CutSeen website and app. This policy explains the information we handle, why we use it, who receives it, and the choices available to you. Where applicable privacy law uses the term “controller” or “business,” CutSeen, Inc. is responsible for the processing described here.

Contact admin@cutseenapp.com with privacy questions or requests. This policy covers the website and app; the information involved depends on which features you use.

1. Information we handle

  • Account and profile information. Your phone number, account identifier, first and last name, profile photo if provided, verification results, and account or onboarding settings.
  • Content and conversations. Photos, videos and their audio, captions, messages, comments, reactions, group names and photos, conversation membership, and information needed to deliver or display them, such as timestamps and media references. Recuts use clips from a conversation to create a shared montage.
  • Contacts and invitations. Contact names and phone numbers you enter or allow the app to access, matches to other CutSeen accounts, and invitation or contact-sync settings. This can include information about people who do not use CutSeen.
  • Device and service information. App and operating-system details, device or installation identifiers, push-notification tokens, network information such as IP addresses, and operational or diagnostic records generated when you use the Service.
  • Usage information. Events such as app opens, sessions, sending and viewing media, interacting with Recuts, and using conversation features. Analytics can be linked to your account and can include display names and conversation names, as explained below.
  • Support and safety communications. Information you send us by email, reports about content or other users, and records needed to investigate or respond.

CutSeen has no in-app purchases or subscriptions at launch, so we do not collect payment-card information through the app.

2. Contacts and device permissions

With your permission, CutSeen collects the names and phone numbers of contacts you allow the app to access. We use that information to sync your contacts, find people you know, and support invitations and suggestions. This information is stored with the Service, not only on your phone. Another user who has your number may also provide it through their contacts.

When you enable syncing changes to your phone and grant the necessary access, edits made in CutSeen can update your phone’s address book. Contact deletion can also be mirrored between the app and device through the sync feature. Your device’s limited-contact permission restricts which contacts are available to the app.

Camera and microphone access let you record content. Photo-library permissions or the system photo picker let you select media, and relevant access lets you save media to your device. Notification permission enables alerts. You can change these permissions in your device settings; some features may then stop working.

Revoking a permission stops future access governed by that permission. It does not automatically remove information already uploaded or synced. Contact us if you want to request removal of stored information. Only provide other people’s information when you have the right to do so.

3. How we use information

We use information to verify phone numbers, establish accounts, deliver conversations and notifications, sync contacts, process shared media, assemble Recuts, and provide the features you request. We also use it to measure how features perform, understand app usage, troubleshoot problems, respond to requests, investigate reports, protect the Service, and meet legal obligations.

Where a law requires a legal basis for processing, the basis depends on the activity: providing the service you request, your consent where required, compliance with a legal obligation, or legitimate interests such as maintaining and protecting the Service and improving its operation. Those interests remain subject to the protections required by applicable law.

4. How we disclose personal information

We disclose personal information to the following recipients and in the circumstances described below:

  • Service providers. We use vendors to help deliver the Service, including account verification, hosting, data and media storage, content delivery, notifications, analytics, and support. These providers may receive or process information relevant to the work they perform for us and the purposes described in this policy.
  • Affiliates, if any. We may share relevant information with entities under common ownership or control with CutSeen for purposes consistent with this policy.
  • Advisers. We may disclose information to professional advisers, such as legal, accounting, and tax advisers, when relevant to their work for us.
  • Legal and safety matters. We may disclose information when required by law or legal process, or when we reasonably believe disclosure is permitted by law and necessary to enforce our terms, investigate misuse, address fraud or security problems, or protect the rights, property, or safety of CutSeen, our users, or others.
  • Business transactions. Information may be disclosed or transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or transfer of the Service, including related evaluation and due diligence, subject to applicable law.
  • People you connect with. Conversation participants receive the media, messages, comments, reactions, and Recuts shared with their conversation. Profile and contact-matching information may also help other people recognize or connect with you.

Information used for app analytics may be associated with your account and may include display names, conversation names, device information, and how you use the app. For a direct conversation, the conversation name may be the other person’s display name. This information is not anonymous.

At launch, CutSeen does not display ads, sell personal information, or share personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. If another disclosure requires your consent, we will request it.

Think carefully before sharing photos or videos. Your friends may save, record, or share what they receive, including Recuts. Deleting content or your account does not remove copies that other people have saved to their phones or elsewhere outside CutSeen.

5. This website

The coming-soon website has no signup form, account login, analytics tracking, advertising tracker, or cookies set by CutSeen. Loading a page still sends ordinary request information, such as an IP address and browser information, to our hosting provider to deliver and protect the website.

The app’s analytics described above are separate from this website. If you contact us by email, we receive your address and anything you choose to send.

6. Retention and deletion

We keep information as needed to operate the Service, maintain your account and shared history, address support and safety matters, and meet legal obligations. The period depends on the type of information and why it is held. We do not promise that all information expires automatically after a fixed period.

To request deletion of your account or personal information, email admin@cutseenapp.com. We may verify account control before processing the request. Signing out, uninstalling the app, or archiving a conversation does not itself delete the account or stored conversation history.

Deletion may be subject to lawful exceptions, such as information needed for security, fraud prevention, legal claims, or compliance. Removal from backups may occur through their normal lifecycle. We will explain any applicable limits when handling a request. Copies saved or shared independently by recipients may remain outside our control.

7. Your choices and privacy requests

You can change available profile and app settings and manage device permissions and notification settings. You can contact us to ask about analytics processing or other privacy choices.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of your information, correct it, request deletion, withdraw consent, object to or restrict particular processing, or receive information in a portable format. You may also have a right to appeal a decision or complain to a privacy regulator. We will handle requests in accordance with applicable law.

Send requests to admin@cutseenapp.com. Tell us what you are requesting and enough information to locate the relevant account; do not send a password or verification code. We may ask for reasonable verification or evidence that an authorized representative may act for you. We do not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

California residents may have additional rights under California privacy laws where those laws apply. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising at launch. Because this website has no advertising or analytics tracking, a browser’s Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal does not change its behavior; those signals do not automatically disable the app’s separate analytics.

8. Children and teens

CutSeen is not available to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Users aged 13–17 must have a parent or guardian’s permission, and additional local age or consent requirements may apply.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us. We will investigate and take appropriate steps to remove the information and address the account in accordance with applicable law.

9. Security and processing locations

We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information. No network, storage system, or app can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

CutSeen is based in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate, and those countries may have different privacy laws. Where applicable law requires protections for an international transfer, those requirements apply to our handling of the transfer. Contact us for information about the processing relevant to your account.

10. Policy updates and other services

We may update this policy when our practices or legal requirements change. The effective date identifies the current version. We will communicate material changes through the Service or another appropriate means and obtain consent when required.

Other websites, app stores, or services you choose to use have their own privacy practices. This policy covers CutSeen’s handling of information, not their independent activities.
